Enter the Environment Mind Grind for a chance to win $1500.00 for your high school

The Abbotsford Mission Recycling Program is planning to host the Environmental Mind Grind contest for Abbotsford and Mission high school students. The Environmental Mind Grind is an academic trivia based competition where student teams from different schools will compete against each other answering questions focused on climate change, energy, forests, transportation and air quality, waste, water and species and spaces. Students will prepare for this competition by reviewing the material in the contest study guide. Please scroll down to download the study guide and registration form.

The Mind Grind competition will be held on Saturday May 3rd, 2014 with the winning team receiving $1500.00 to be used towards an environmental initiative at their high school. Some environmental initiatives could include: purchasing recycling and composting bins, attending an environmental education fieldtrip, purchasing reusable dishes and utensils for the cafeteria, or building a school garden. Prizes will also be awarded to the second and third place teams. All participants will receive a contest t-shirt and a goody bag filled with eco-friendly items.

This event will provide an opportunity for young members of our community to learn about our local environment and showcase their ideas for the future. The Environmental Mind Grind is brought to you by Cascades Recovery, Fortis BC, Encorp Pacific, the City of Abbotsford, the District of Mission and Abbotsford Community Services. Please register your team by Monday, April 7th. For more information about the Mind Grind, please contact the Education Coordinator at 604-850-3551 or recycling.education@abbotsfordcommunityservices.com.
